    【Abstract】 Objective To report a procedure of percutaneous microcompression for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.Methods To describe the method and clinical experiences of72cases of trigeminal neuralgia，who underˉwent percutaneous microcompression between Oct.2002and Jan.2003in our department，and with reviewing the literaˉtures to discuss the results.Results Out of all72cases，63cases were pain free(87.4%)，and five cases partial reˉlief;facial numbness in68cases(94.4%);trigeminal motor dysfuction in50cases(69.4%);no death or other serious complications occurred.Conclusion This procedure is very simple，safe，and effective，especially to those in elder ages，poor physical conditions.It should be considered as the only or the first choice.
