Effect of diethylstilbestrol on the ability of learning and memory of ovariectomized mice

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the influence of diethylstilbestrol on the learning and memory ability (DES) on ovariectomized (OVX) mice. METHODS: The OVX mice model were built up by operation, DES was received by muscle injection. Y maze was used to observe the right time (RT), the wrong time (WT) and the time once used (T). The body mass of mice was observed by electronic balance. To observe the change of the OVX mice¬ðs learning and memory ability and its improvement after the injection of DES. RESULTS: RT and T of control group were (15.3¡À2.7 ) and (5.4¡À0.8) s; Those of the OVX group were (10.5¡À4.2) and (6.6¡À1.0) s. Those of the injected group were (16.7¡À1.0) and (4.5¡À1.1) s (20 times in all). The results showed that the level of learning and memory ability of OVX group was significantly lower than that of the control group and DES injected group (P<0.05). There was no obviously difference between the control group and the injected group in the learning and memory ability (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Ovariectomizing can affect the mice¬ðs learning and memory ability, diethylstilbestrol can improve the OVX mice¬ðs learning and memory ability. ......
