     Expression changes of Fos protein in neurons and OX42 in microglias of rat MVZ after intraperitoneal lipopolysaccharide injection

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the expressions of Fos positive neurons and OX42 positive microglias in rat medullary visceral zone (MVZ) activated by a single intraperineal (IP) injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS). METHODS: AntiFos and antiOX42 immunohistochemical ABC technique was used to investigate the medullary sections from different rates killed at 0.5, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 and 72 h respectively after LPS injection. RESULTS: ① Fos positive neurons (FosLI) appeared at 1 h and peaked at 3 h after injection. These neurons were mainly located in MVZ. ② OX42 positive microglias appeared at 3 h and peaked at 12 h after injection. They were located in the MVZ, paratrigeminal nucleus and external cuneate nucleus. CONLUSION: The neurons and microglias in MVZ can sensitively respond to LPS injection. The peak time of the activated neurons is earlier than that of the activated microglias. ......
