     Effect of celecoxib on growth inhibition and induction of apoptosis in gallbladder cancer cells

    【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effect of celecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase2 inhibitor, on the growth inhibition and the induction of apoptosis in gallbladder cancer cells. METHODS: After the treatment of celecoxib, we used TUNEL, MTT and flow cytometry (FCM) to observe the changes of gallbladder cancer cells. RESULTS: Growth inhibition and typical apoptosis were observed in gallbladder cancer cells after they were treated by celecoxib (P<0.05). The growth inhibition was to some extent in a time and dosedependent manner(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Celecoxib can inhibit the growth of gallbladder cancer cells by inducing the apoptosis of these cells.
