CTª²guided percutaneous aspiration or drainage and sclerotherapy of 57 patients with hepatic cystic disease

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the efficiency of percutaneous treatment of hepatic cystic disease by aspiration or drainage followed by CTª²guided injection of alcohol and to study the pathologic basis. METHODS: Eighty hepatic cysts in 57 patients underwent CTª²guided percutaneous puncture and aspiration. All the cases received corresponding ethanol sclerotherapy according to the different quality of the cysts and were followed up. RESULTS: Compared with those preª²sclerotherapy, the cysts reduced by less than 1/3 in 6 cases, by 1/3-2/3 in 24 cases and disappeared in 27 cases after sclerotherapy. The treatment was effective in all the cases. After 6 months to 4 years followª²up, no fatal complications or recrudescent cases were found. CONCLUSION: Percutaneous treatment of hepatic cystic disease by aspiration or drainage followed by CTª²guided injection of alcohol is safe and effective. ......
