Expression of survivin in human colon carcinoma and its clinical significance

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the expression of survivin and its relationship with the clinical feature of colon carcinoma. METHODS: In 46 specimens of colon carcinoma and adjacent nonª²cancerous colon tissues, the expression of survivin was detected by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Of the 46 cases of colon carcinoma, 28 cases expressed survivin but survivin was not detected in adjacent nonª²cancer ous colon tissues. The expression of survivin in colon carcinoma was not associated with the patients¬ð age, gender and differentiated level (P>0.05), but with the metastasis of colon carcinoma (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The high expression of survivin in colon carcinoma suggests that it plays an important role in the development and metastasis of colon carcinoma. ......
