Effect of Ginsengª²shuo Granule on cardiac function of guinea pigs

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To study the effects of Ginsengª²shuo Granule on the cardiac function of guinea pigs. METHODS: The Ginsengª²shuo Granule solution was administrated ig to guinea pigs and after 10 days, the changes of cardiac function were observed by inserting a small catheter into left ventricle from common carotid artery. RESULTS: Compared with those of the animals in the blank control group, the heart rate of the animals in Ginsengª²shuo Granule group decreased from (216¡À22) beat/min to (206¡À26) beat/min, and the highest left ventricular systolic pressure increased from (9.87¡À1.06) kPa to (11.29¡À0.98) kPa. +dp/dtmax of the left ventricular pressure fell from (216.51¡À40.96) kPa/s to (164.71¡À8.02) kPa/s and -dp/dtmax of the left ventricular pressure fell from (-125.05¡À25.46) kPa/s to (-79.46¡À4.46) kPa/s. The shortening velocity of the cardiac muscular fiber lowered from (0.89¡À0.10) V/s to (0.67¡À0.03) V/s. CONCLUSION: The Ginsengª²shuo Granule can enhance the contraction of the cardiac muscle, decrease the heart rate and lower the O2 consumption of the cardiac muscle. ......
