     Expression of Ecadherin in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder and its relationship with serum CA125

    ABSTRACT: Objective To investigate the expression of Ecadherin and its relationship with serum CA125. Methods Immunohistochemical staining and radioimmunoassay were applied to detect the expression of Ecadherin in 60 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder and the value of serum CA125, and to analyze the relationship between them. Results 34(40%) cases of the expressions of Ecadherin were normal, 36(60%) abnormal. The abnormal expression rate of Ecadherin and the ralue of CA125 rose with the clincal and pathological staging of the carcinoma; the abnormal expression rate of Ecadherin and the value of CA125 of those who had remote metastasis or recurrence of carcinoma were higher than those who had not. The ralue of CA125 was positively related with the abnormal expression of Ecadherin (P<0.01). Conclusion CA125 could act as an indicator of the malignancy and prognosis of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder. ......
