     Association of polymorphisms of transforming growth factorbeta 1 gene with susceptibility to essential hypertension in Zhuang nationality of Guangxi province

    【Abstract】 AIM: To study the relationship of the polymorphisms of transforming growth factorbeta 1 (TGFβ1)gene+869T/C and +915G/C in the exon 1 with essential hypertension in population of Chinese Zhuang nationality.METHODS: The polymorphisms of TGFβ1 gene were analyzed by sequence specific primerspolymerase chain reaction (PCRSSP) methods in 172 patients with essential hypertension and 180 healthy controls.RESULTS: The TGFβ1 gene +869T/C polymorphism was significantly different between the two populations.The relative risk of suffering from essential hypertension of T allele was 1525 times that of C allele(OR =1525,95% CI:1133~2053).The systolic blood pressure level of TGFβ1 C allele carriers was significantly higher than that in noncarriers(220±39 kPa vs 211±31 kPa,P<005).But the polymorphism distributions of TGFβ1 gene +915G/C polymorphism was not different between the essential hypertension group and the control group.CONCLUSION: TGFβ1 gene +869T/C polymorphism is associated with essential hypertension and C allele may be a risk factor for essential hypertension.The TGFβ1 C allele carriers may have increased risk of essential hypertension by enhancing the systolic blood pressure. ......
