     Effects of lowintensity pulsed electromagnetic fields on osteoblasts in rats

    【Abstract】 AIM: To observe the effects of lowintensity pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) on the proliferation,differentiation and bone tissuelike formation of cultured rat osteoblasts.METHODS: Osteoblasts isolated from newly born (<24 h) SD rats were cultured by explants outgrowth technique.The osteoblasts in the PEMFs group were cultured for 30 min in the PEMFs with the intension of electromagnetic fields 8 Gs,frequency 15 Hz.MTT assay,alkaline phosphatatasespecific activity assay and tetracycline fluorescence labeling assay were used to observe the effects of PEMFs on the osteoblasts proliferation,differentiation and bone tissuelike formation.RESULTS: ① MTT assay demonstrated that the A490 nm value of sham group and PEMFs group was respectively (0330±0020) and (0379±0038),with obvious difference(P<001).② ALP assay displayed that the A410 nm value of sham group and PEMFs group was respectively (0170±0029)and (0206±0018),with obvious difference(P<001).③ The calcium node in PEMFs group was far more than that in sham group.CONCLUSION: The PEMFs can accelerate the cell proliferation,upregulate the ALP level and increase the bone tissuelike formation of rat osteoblasts in vitro. ......
