【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effects of circadian rhythm on the hemorrheology and erythrocyte fragility by exposing mice to pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs).METHODS: Thirty male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 3 groups: control,magnetic A,and magnetic B.The mice of both magnetic groups (A,B) were exposed to PEMFs(f=15 Hz) 6 h per day,with the intensity set to 8×10-4 T,but the two magnetic groups were exposed at different time period,with daytime 10∶00-16∶00 for group A and nighttime 22∶00-4∶00 for group B.The mice of control group were fed in coils with sham exposure.After 10 d,the changes of the properties of hemorrheology and erythrocyte fragility were observed.RESULTS: Statistically significant differences were observed in the values of hemorrheology and erythrocyte fragility between the magnetic group (A or B) and control group (P<005).The values of hemorrheology and the concentrations of normal hemolysis in magnetic group A obviously decreased (P<005),compared with those of magnetic group B.But,no significant differences were found in the concentrations of complete hemolysis between the two magnetic groups (P>005).CONCLUSION: PEMFs are effective in improving the hemorrheology and decreasing the erythrocyte fragility.Effects of exposure in daytime is better than that in nighttime.The bioeffects of PEMFs are affected by the circadian rhythm. ......
