【Abstract】 AIM: To explore the mental health of pilots after serious accidents so as to provide some theoretical basis for mental crisis intervention.METHODS: Twentynine male pilots aged 25 to 37,who had been involved in a class 1 flying accident (two deaths) in one air group were included in this study. The Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL90) and the Life Events Scale (LES) were used in the investigation and the subjects were analyzed collectively and individually.RESULTS: ① The average level of mental health in the 29 pilots after accident was fairly good.Compared with the norm of Chinese military personnel,no significant difference was found in other indices in SCL90,except for the number of positive items and the mean scores of positive items.② Of the 29 pilots, the SCL90 total scores were ≥178 in 11 persons (3793%).The difference in the means of the 10 factors between the high score group and the low score group was significant (P<001).The obsession and the depression were the typical symptoms.③ The differences in LES total scores, negative event values, negative family problem values and negative workstudy problem values were significant (P<005) between the high and the low score groups of SCL90 total score.CONCLUSION: Serious flight accidents have some negative effect on some pilots. The postaccident mental crisis intervention should give priority to individual counseling and psychotherapy. ......
