Analysis of present utilization of ¡¶National Essential Medicare Formulary¡· in 3 hospitals in a city

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the application of ¡¶National Essential Medicare Formulary¡· and the existing problems by analyzing the drug utilization of medicare patients in 3 hospitals and to put forward some suggestions for the related policies. METHODS: Data of drug use of all medicare patients in 3 large general hospitals from July to December in 2004 were collected and classified according to drug category and disease. RESULTS: There is a significant difference among the usage of 6 types of drugs and between the usage of exterior and interior medicines of the ¡¶National Essential Medicare Formulary¡· for 5 common diseases in these 3 hospitals (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The constitution of medicare patients¬ð fee should be adjusted or the proportion of medicine be further controlled in order to lessen the economic burden of employees who take part in medicare. ......
