    Radix Menispermi Daurici.

    Origin:

    The rhizome of Menispermum dahuricum DC., a perennial vine, of the Menispermaceae family. Native to Siberia and north China. As an herb, it is customarily grown in the north of China.

    A deciduous climber growing to 3.6 m at a fast rate, it is in flower from June to July, and the seeds ripen from October to November. The flowers are dioecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but only one sex is to be found on any one plant so both male and female plants must be grown if seed is required. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It succeeds in any moderate fertile soil that does not dry out excessively in summer.
