Abstract
AIM: To observe the changes of dendritic cells separated from patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) after treatment of sodium selenite in order to find out an effective way for improving the function of dendritic cells.
METHODS: The peripheral blood was collected from 28 CHB patients, and each share of blood sample was assigned into 2 shares, one of which was treated with sodium selenite (group A) and the other served as positive control (group B). The blood from healthy individuals was used as normal control (group C). The effect of dendritic cells on the proliferation of allogeneic lymphocytes was examined by MTT assay using mixed lymphcyte reaction, and the secretion of interleukin-12 (IL-12) was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Colorimetry was used to detect glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity, malondialdehyde content and membrane fluidity.
