     Preventive and therapeutical effect of the kernel of zanthoxylum seed oil on experimental hyperlipidemia in rats

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the effect of the kernel of zanthoxylum seed oil (KZSO) on experimental hyperlipidemia in rats and to probe into the mechanism of preventive and therapeutical effect of KZSO. METHODS: Thirty healthy SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, including control group, hyperlipidemia model group and KZSO group. Control group was fed ordinary forage; model group was fed highlipid forage; KZSO group was administrated intragastrically KZSO besides highlipid forage. Blood samples were obtained by cutting necks after 10week feeding. The levels of blood lipids and the hemorheological parameters were determined, and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the restraining ability to hydroxyl free radical (RAHFR) in the liver tissues were measured.
