Clinical application value of HBV PreS1 antigen

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To evaluate the clinical significance of detecting PreS1 antigen of hepatitis B virus (HBV). METHODS: HBsAg positive serum specimens (n=1000) from inpatients and outpatients were collected, then detected for PreS1 antigen and HBV DNA by fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQª²PCR). RESULTS: The total PreS1 positive rate was 52.0%, the HBVª²DNA positive rate was 50.8%, and the HBeAg positive rate was 21.0%. The total positive rate of PreS1 was higher distinctly than that of HBeAg. The total accordance rate between PreS1 and HBVª²DNA was 94.4%. CONCLUSION: PreS1 is more sensitive than HBeAg when as a serological index of HBV infection and reproduction. Determination of PreS1 has a great application value in diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis B. PreS1 could be taken as a new serological indicator for infectivity and replication of HBV. ......
