NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Child magazine has published a list of the top 10 children's hospitals in the US, and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia grabbed the top spot.
To compile its elite group, the magazine used data from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, an independent body that evaluates and accredits thousands of healthcare organizations in the US. Fifty hospitals were then surveyed on issues such as children's cancer survival rates and how the hospital meets patients' emotional needs.
The rest of the top-10 list includes, in order: Children's Hospital in Boston; Seattle's Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center; The Children's Hospital in Denver; Texas Children's Hospital in Houston; Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit; a tie between Children's Medical Center of Dallas and Children's Hospital & Health Center in San Diego; the University of Michigan's C. S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor; and The Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital in Charleston.
