Tibetans See Doctors Via Satellite Net

    Doctors in major hospitals ins China are available to help Tibetans as the national satellite medical service network extends to Lhasa,capital of Tibet.

    The China Golden Health Long-Distance Medical Centre at the People's Hospital of Tibetan Autonomous Region opened yesterday.

    Cao Ronggui,vice-minister of the Ministry of Health,expressed his congratulations in Beijing."I hope the new system will benefit Tibetan people living on the remote and isolated plateau",Cao said.

    The satellite medical service system was opened by the Ministry of Health in 1997.The system now includes 70 ground satellite stations,conneeting major hospitals across the country.

    With the help of the system,thousands of remote diagnoses and treatments have been successfully conducted.

    Chinese Government has sent medical teams from other provinces to Tibet to help the local people.But they would have to leave after a certain period spent there beeause of the high altitude of the platean.
