Hepatitis B is very common in China. In your study, You not only cloned 4 novel genes related with HBV, but also proved that these genes played very important roles in the carcinogenesis of HCC, and that these genes can predict the development of HCC. My question is that: Did you find some relationships between the expression of these genes and the clinicopathological parameters of the patients?

A: (刘杰) Since the monoclonal antibodies against the products of these genes were just generated in my Lab, the study of the expression pattern of these genes and their significance in clinical samples have been conducted recently. Our initial results showed that URG11 was significantly related to the metastasis and differentiation of the tumor, and URG4 is related to the cell cycle protein PCNA. More work is still on the way to elucidate the significance of these genes with the clinical parameters of the patients.

Q: Did you compare these markers with AFP?

A: Yes, we already started to work on this project. Because the monoclonal antibodies against the products of these genes are just available, we would like to test the level of URGs in the serum of the patients, and make a comparison with the level of AFP. The sera of HBV associated HCC were collect from different hospitals of China.

Did you make a comparison of intestinal permeability between stable and active Crohn’s disease?

A: (朱峰)No, I did not, because there is a severe gut inflammation in active Crohn's disease. The intestinal permeability of these patients must be higher than that of the stable ones.

Q: Did you follow up the patients of your study? How were the results?

A:Yes.Follow up was carried out for more than one year and we found that Crohn’s disease recurred in 3 of 17 the patients.

Since the spike is associated with smooth muscle contraction, why in your study, you recorded gastric slow wave to reflect the gastric motility?

A:(刘劲松)Gastric slow wave controls the direction and frequency of GI motility. Contraction happens on the gastric slow wave. So we chose gastric slow wave to reflect gastric motility. On the other hand, currently, there’s no effective method to record the spike., http://www.100md.com
