Relationship between HPV-E6 P53 protein and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract
AIM To investigate the mechanisms of esophageal carcinogenesis by HPV-E6 infection in esophagus as well as expression
of P53 protein.
METHODS HPV-E6 and P53 protein was examined by immunohistochemical method in 116 paraffin-embedded cases of different esophageal tissues.
RESULTS HPV-E6 infection rate in normal mucosa, inflammatory mucosa, moderate or severe dysplasia and esophageal carcinoma tissues were 37%, 39%. 50% and 73%, at the same time, nuclear P53 protein positive were 0%, 6%, 41% and 63%. Besides, the expression of HPV-E6 and P53 protein in 60 carcinomas is closely associated with the pathohistological grading and HPV-E6 infection with the positive expression of P53 in carcinoma tissues was significantly higher than HPV-E6 negative with the positive expression of P53 statistically. ......
