摘要 目的 观察不同年龄组人的螺旋神经节细胞形态变化,进行定量研究。 方法 用火棉胶及脱火棉胶人的颞骨切片观察螺旋神经节及其脂褐素,进行图像分析测定。 结果 随年龄增长螺旋神经节细胞逐渐减少,由0~9岁组的39 293个减少至80~88岁组的16 781个,自20岁组开始至80~88岁组与0~9岁组比较差异有显著性(P<0.05或0.01)。老年组不仅螺旋神经节细胞明显减少、细胞大小不等、核浓缩或淡染、核偏移,而且耳蜗神经纤维也减少,但胶质细胞增生。随着增龄脂褐素沉积逐渐增多。 结论 老年人螺旋神经节细胞减少,细胞质内脂褐素沉积,可能是导致老年性耳聋的主要原因之一。

A morphologic and quantitative study on the cells of spiral ganglion in the aged

Abstract Objective To study the morphologic and quantitative changes of the cells of spiral ganglion of different ages groups. Methods The slides of serial sections of temporal bone removed from the celloidin and celloidin-embeded temporal bones were used to observe the spiral ganglion and lipofuscin by computer image analysis technique. Results The spiral ganglion cells of the human temporal bone (gradually) decreased with the increase of age. There was significant difference between 20-88 years groups and 0-9 years (P<0.05 or 0.01). Not only the size and number of these spiral ganglion cells and lipofuscin showed changes in different age groups the nuclei of the cells were also varying in degree due to degenerative changes in senile groups. The cochlear nerve showed also decrease in number of fibers and increase in glial cells. Lipofuscin were found to increase gradually in amount with ageing. Conclusions These results suggest that the decrease of spiral ganglion cells and the deposition of lipofuscin in the aged may be the main cause of presbycusis.
