Abstract： The new ideas and new technologies that will impact on hand surgeryof the next millennium include:advances in biocompatible materials, increased applicationof non and minimally invasive surgery, safe allograft transplants, tissue engineering,patient specific computer modeling, information technology, computer assisted surgicaleducation and skills acquisition, and application of virtual reality in the operating theratre. With the technical advances, and what's more, with the talents attracted to the speciality, a bright future of hand surgery is expected.
