     Effects of Qidantongmai tablet on myocardial oxygen consumption in dogs

    【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effects of Qidantongmai tablet (QDTMT) on the amount of myocardial oxygen consumption in dogs. METHODS: Dogs were divided randomly into control, (QDTMT) high dosage (QDTMTH), low dosage (QDTMTL) and Diltiazem groups. The blood oxygen content of coronary arteries and veins was measured by hemoxmeter. Myocardial oxygen consumption and utility ratio of myocardial oxygen were calculated. RESULTS: In the QDTMTH group, the amount of oxygen in coronary arteries was reduced significantly from that of control group 60min after the administration of QDTMT [ (124.2±25.4 ) vs (968±40), (137.1±15.1) vs (99.9±2.4), (137.4±12.6) vs (943±28) g·L-1, P<0.01]. Myocardial oxygen consumption was reduced significantly from that of the control 45 min after the administration of QDTMT. [(74.5±14) vs (94.6±11.5), (76.0±17.3) vs (90.6±11.5), (76.9±10.4) vs (90.6±5.5), (74.6±16.7) vs (95.0±4.9) mL·min-1, P<0.05]. In QDTMTL group and QDTMH groups, the utility ratio of myocardial oxygen was reduced significantly from that of the control after 60 min the administration of QDTMT [(84.9±8.0) vs (98.0±6.6), (84.6±6.3) vs (94.6±4.3), (82.4±7.5) vs (99.9±6.6) %, P<0.05]. CONCLUSION: QDTMT can ameliorate myocardial ischemia by reducing the amount of myocardial oxygen consumption and the utility ratio of myocardial oxygen. ......
