Effects of Qidantongmai tablet on hemorrheology in humans and dogs

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To study the effects of Qidantongmai tablet (QDTMT) on the hemorrheology of both patients and experimental dogs with myocardial ischemia. METHODS: Patients with myocardial ischemia were given QDTMT, 4 tablets, 3 time per day for 1 month and hemorrheological indexes were measured before and after therapy. Coronary artery ligation was employed to establish a myocardial ischemia model with canine. Coronary sinus cannula was inserted through the external jugular vein and QDTMT was duodenally perfused. Hemorrheological indexes were measured before and after the ligation. RESULTS: In comparison with those of the control, hemorrheological indexes such as whole blood high-and low-shear viscosity (6.7¡À0.4 vs 7.3¡À0.4; 5.3¡À0.2 vs 6.7¡À0.9 ), (21.4¡À1.4 vs 23.7¡À2.5; 15.2¡À0.3 vs 21.0¡À4.1 ), plasma viscosity (1.75¡À0.04 vs 1.81¡À0.08;1.53¡À0.03 vs 1.69¡À0.03) and erythrocyte eletrophoretic time (EET) (18.3¡À0.1 vs 19.0¡À0.6) reduced significantly in both patients and canines with myocardial ischemia (P<0.05, P< 0.01). CONCLUSION: QDTMT can improve the hemodynamics of both patients and experimental canines with myocardial ischemia. ......
