The treatment of congenital dislocation of hip in elder children is one of the tough problems faced by the orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Yang Yu-feng, deputy chief surgeon of general hospital at Daqing petroleum company, after years of research, had found a treatment design by adding some trick to Pemberton operation and had obtained remarkable effect.

From February 1987 to February 2001, a total of 58 cases (76 hips) were treated with this procedure. The patients consisted of 11 males and 47 females with grade II dislocation in 40 hips, grade III in 36 hips. The result showed that with a follow-up period of 2-11 years (an average of 5 years and 2 months), the flexion and extension movement smaller than 90° was seen in 6 hips, accounting for 7.6 %. According to Salter criteria for the diagnosis of aseptic necrosis of the femoral head, in 58 cases (76 hips) there were 29 hips with necrosis of the femoral head accounting for 38.2 %, demonstrating a notable lowering of the incidence of postoperative stiff joint and necrosis of the femoral head after surgical treatment of congenital dislocation of hip in elder children., 百拇医药
