Nasal endoscopic surgery simulation system passed
For the purpose of providing the trainee a suppositional setting which allow the trainee have simulated personal experience of vision and tactile sensation, the first simulated nasal endoscopic operation simulation system has passed the evaluation recently in the Army General Hospital. The related specialists considered that this system enabled the trainee immersed in a simulated situation to learn the manipulation technique of nasal endoscopy through vision and tactile sensation; it is of great help to medical teaching purpose and is worthwhile for wide spread application.
In order to solve the tough problems in the training of conchoscopic surgery in the environment of a complicated structure of the nasal cavity, requiring the coordination of both hands and eyes for the manipulation, the Army General Hospital assumed the responsibility in cooperation with the College of Computer, National Defense Technology University. In a research of two years, this simulated nasal endoscopic operation system was developed. Under the action of various degrees of compression and pulling exerted by the operation instruments, the soft tissues and organs of the nasal cavity manifested with feedback action of different degrees. Utilizing the mechanical induction and the feedback system, the beginners were able to experience personally the whole course of the operative procedure.
The system is able to provide endoscopic transformation at different visual angles during the whole course of surgery. As recommended, the tactile stimulation of three degrees of freedom enables the beginners to sense the minute procedures of the instruments manipulating on the mucous membrane and the osseous tissue; different sensations can also be felt during perforating the lateral wall of the nasal cavity.
As recommended by the specialists during the evaluation, the utilization of this system will save further the cost of teaching, shorten the training period of the clinical surgeons and remarkably decrease the risk of surgical treatment., 百拇医药
