A project supported by the state foundation of natural science was completed by the department of obs & gyn in Xijing hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University. Owing to the close relationship between the occurrence of cancer cervix and the cyclin dependence kinase 2 (CDK2) and heat shock proteins (HSP) 60, they will become the important lab items for the early diagnosis of cancer of cervix.

At present the relationship of abnormality of the cell cycle and the occurrence of tumor has already become the hot spot of research. CKD2 is the chief adjustment factor of cell cycle; HSP is a kind of highly conservative protein formed by intracellular inductive synthesis under the influence of various stimulation factors, and is classified into different components according to the molecular weight, with their individual physiological actions and significance during the pathological process. For the study of the expression behavior of CDK2 and HSP60 in the tissue of cervix cancer and investigation of their relationship with cervix cancer, the researchers used SP immunohistochemical method for the examination of the expression of CDK2, and HSP60 in cervix cancer tissue (25 cases), the para-cancer tissue (11 cases) and normal cervix tissue from 16 individuals.

The results showed that in the human cervix cancer tissue, para-cancer tissue and the normal cervix tissues, the rate of positive expression of CDK2 were respectively 76.0 %, 27.3 % and 31 %. The positive expression rate in cervix cancer tissue was remarkably higher than that in the para-cancer and the normal cervix tissues with a significant difference (P<0.05); it was one of the special biological features of cell proliferation in the cancer tissue. The researchers suspected that the abnormal expression of CDK2 led to disturbance of cell cycle, which further cause abnormal cellular proliferation, and finally resulted in the occurrence of cervix cancer. The positive expression rate of HSP60 in human cervix cancer, para-cancer tissue and normal cervix tissue were respectively 84.0 %, 45.5 % and 37.5 %. The rate of positive expression of HSP60 in cervix cancer was remarkably higher than that in the para-cancer tissue and the normal cervix tissue with a significant difference (P<0.05), indicating the increased production of intracellular HSP in the epithelium of cervix cancer during the process of cancerous change and in the cells following cancerous change., http://www.100md.com
