     Effects of purified water intake on serum LCAT, LPL, HL, ApoAⅠand ApoB in rats

    【Abstract】 AIM: To determine whether purified water causes abnormal alteration of the activities of serum lecithin cholesterol acetyltransferase (LCAT), lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and hepatic lipase (HL), and of the concentrations of Apoproteins AI (ApoAI) and B (ApoB) in rats. METHODS: A total of 180 male and female Wistar rats were equally randomized into 3 groups. Tapwater group (TW), purified water group (PW) and purified water+MgSO4 group (PW+Mg). The levels of the activities of serum LCAT and LPL and HL, and the concentrations of apoAⅠand apoB were measured after 3 and 6 months, respectively. RESULTS: Compared with those in TW (control group), the serum level of apoB concentration (g/L) significantly increased [3 mo TW (0.14±0.08), 3 mo PW (0.20 ±0.11), P<0.05, and 6 mo TW (0.17±0.04), 6 mo PW (0.20 ±0.05), P<0.05] in PW. Compared with those in PW, the level of apoB concentration in PW+Mg significantly decreased [3 mo PW (0.20±0.11), 3 mo PW+Mg (0.14±0.07), P<0.05, and 6 mo PW (0.20±0.05), 6 mo PW+Mg (0.17±0.05), P<0.05].
