Correlation between type 2 diabetes mellitus and Pro12Ala polymorphism of peroxisome proliferatorª²activated receptor gamma(PPARª²¦Ã2) gene

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the correlation between the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and Pro12Ala polymorphism of PPARª²¦Ã2 gene. METHODS: The polymorphism was analyzed by TDIª²FP (Templateª²directed Dyeª²terminator Incorporation with Fluorescence Polarization) technology. The frequencies of the polymorphism in two groups were compared. RESULTS: The frequencies of the polymorphism in T2DM and control groups were 5.9% and 5.8%, respectively and there was no correlation between the Pro12Ala polymorphism and T2DM. CONCLUSION: The TDIª²FP technology is a new specific and sensitive method suitable for automatic genotyping in large number samples. Pro12Ala polymorphism of PPARª²¦Ã2 gene has no relation with T2DM in Northwest Chinese population. ......
