     Coexistence of calbindinD28k with parvalbumin in neurons of spinal cord anterior horn in rats

    【Abstract】 AIM: To observe the coexistence of calbindinD28k (CB) with parvalbumin (PV) in neurons of the anterior horn of the spinal cord in rats. METHODS: Immunofluorescence histochemical doublestaining method was used. RESULTS: Some of the medium and smallsized neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord showed CB or PVimmunopositive staining. The majority of the CBimmunoreactive neurons also exhibited PVimmunoreactivities, i.e. CB and PV coexisted in these neurons. CONCLUSION: CB and PV coexist in some of the neurons in the anterior horn. CB/PV doublelabeled neurons might belong to Renshaw cells and they may have some feedback inhibitory regulatory effects on the activities of α motor neurons in the anterior horn. ......
