    Expression and significance of MMP2, MMP9, TIMP1 and TIMP2 in Meningiomas

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the relationship between expression of MMP2, MMP 9, TIMP1, TIMP2 in meningiomas and their brain invision. METHODS: The protein expression of MMP2, MMP9, TIMP1, TIMP2 was detected by immunohistochemistry and the mRNA expression of MMP2, MMP9 was detected by in situ hybridization in 45 patients with meningiomas. RESULTS: The positive rates of the expression of MMP2, MMP9 were 90.0%(9/10), 90.0%(9/10)in brain invasive group and 40.0%(14/35), 42.9%(15/35) in nonbrain invasive group respectively, and the positive rates of the expression of MMP2, MMP9 were significantly higher in brain invasive,atypical, malignant tumors than that of nonbrain invasive，benign tumors (P<0.05). The expr ession levels of TIMP1, TIMP2 were no significantly different in all tumors (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: The expression of MMP2, MMP9, TIMP1, TIMP2 are critical to brain invasive of meningiomas. ......
