Effect of Baoyuandan on function of T lymphocyte of lung cancer patients after chemotherapy

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To study the antiª²tumor effect of Baoyuandan (BYD), a Chinese prepared medicine, on the function of T lymphocytes. METHODS: Twenty cases of nonª²small lung cancer were divided into treatment group and control group randomly. BYD and placebo were used respectively. Lymphocyte proliferation was observed and the expression of CD28 on the surface of T cell and ILª²2, TNFª²¦Á in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: There were significant differences in T lymphocyte proliferation [(0.24¡À0.26)% vs (0.56¡À0.23)%, P<0.05], the expression of CD28 [(38¡À10)% vs (69¡À10)%, P<0.01], ILª²2 expression [(29¡À6) ng/L vs (90¡À16) ng/L, P<0.01] and TNFª²¦Á expression [(90¡À18) ng/L vs (125¡À23) ng/L, P<0.01] between the treatment group and the control group. CONCLUSION: BYD may produce some antiª²tumor effect by activating T cells. ......
