Correlation between neurobehavioral functions and performance of military training in servicemen

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To explore the correlation between neurobehavioral functions and military training achievement in recruits. METHODS: Six neurobehavioral functions were tested in 110 recruits and the scores of military training were assessed by their commanders using standard convention. RESULTS: There was a significant negative correlation (r=-0.279, P<0.05) between military training achievement and the mean reaction time, a positive correlation (r=0.401, P<0.01) between the scores of Pursuit Aiming and military training achievement and also a significant positive correlation (r=0.311, P<0.01) between the scores of Digit Symbol and military training achievement. The scores of the senior high school group were better than those of the junior high school group in Manual Dexterity, Digit Symbol, Visual Retention (P=0.05, 0.000, 0.001). CONCLUSION: There is a significant correlation between the neurobehavioral functions and military achievement. The education background has some important influence on the cognitive ability of recruits. ......
