【Abstract】 AIM: To observe the expression of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and dopamine beta hydroxylase (DBH) in the lumbar sympathetic ganglia neurons of the patients with Buerger disease of lower limb. METHODS: The lumbar sympathetic ganglia was sampled in 14 patients with Buerger disease and the expressions of TH and DBH in the neurons in lumbar sympathetic ganglia were observed by immunohistochemical staining. Eleven nonBuerger disease patients served as controls. RESULTS: The TH and DBH expressions in the neurons in lumbar sympathetic ganglia in the patients with Buerger disease were higher than those in the control group. CONCLUSION: The lumbar sympathetic ganglia plays an important role in the development of Buerger disease. The enhanced expressions of TH and DBH may result in vasospasm, which accelerates the development of Buerger disease. ......
