     Effect of substance P on proliferation and activity of osteoblasts in vitro

    【Abstract】 AIM: To observe the effect of substance P (SP) on the proliferation and activity of osteoblasts cultured in vitro. METHODS: The calvarium bone of newborn rats was digested with bacterial collagenase and cultured to obtain osteoblasts and SP with different concentrations was then added. The proliferation and activity changes of the osteoblasts were identified by counting the cells, determining the ALP activity and observing the changes of cell cycle. RESULTS: SP of 1×10-12-1×10-6 mol/L had enhancing effects on the proliferation and activity of osteoblasts, while the concentration of 1×10-8 mol/L had the strongest enhancing effects. CONCLUSION: SP has enhancing effects on the proliferation and activity of osteoblasts. ......
