Priliminary investigation on resveratrol in inhibiting growth of laryngeal carcinoma Hepª²2 cells in vitro

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To study the mechanism of the traditional Chinese medicine resveratrol in inhibiting laryngeal carcinoma Hepª²2 cells. METHODS: The single cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE) was used to detect the DNA damage of Hepª²2 cells by resveratrol. RESULTS: Resveratrol at the level of (5-10) mL/L caused DNA damage of Hepª²2 cells in a doseª²effect manner. In the experiment group, the rate of DNA tail (%) was 82.2 and 94.9, the tail DNA content (%) was 12.25 (9.10) and 23.40 (13.53), the tail length (¦Ìm) was 10.50 (9.48) and 18.45 (8.20), and the tail movement was 1.80 (1.60) and 3.80 (3.73), significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Resveratrol, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, can cause DNA damage of Hepª²2 cells. ......
