     Interferonβ gene induces apoptosis in human SHG44 glioma cells and upregulation of Fas expression

    【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effects of interferonβ (IFNβ) gene on apoptosis and upregulation of Fas expression of the human glioma cells and to observe the relationship of cell apoptosis and the upregulation of Fas expression. METHODS: The SHG44 glioma model of nude mice was established. Eukaryonic expression vector (pSV2IFNβ) for IFNβ packaged by liposome was injected into SHG44 glioma of nude mice. The effects of IFNβ gene on the apoptosis and Fas expression in the glioma cells were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and TUNEL. RESULTS: The expression of IFNβgene in the glioma nude mice was determined. The glioma growth in nude mice was inhibited. The apoptosis of the glioma cells SHG44 was observed. Fas expression in the glioma cells was significantly higher than that in the control cells. CONCLUSION: IFNβ gene can inhibit the growth of human gliomas and induce the apoptosis of human glioma cells, which may be related to the upregulation of Fas expression in the cells. ......
