Evaluation of placental flt1 protein in women with pregnancyª²induced hypertension syndrome

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the expression of the fmsª²like tyrosine kinase 1 (flt1) in placentas from women with pregnancyª²induced hypertension syndrome (PIH) and the significant role of flt1 in the pathogenesis of PIH.METHODS: The protein expression of flt1 was determined using Western Blotting analysis in 18 PIH placentas and 18 normotensive pregnancies and the localization of the flt1 in these human placental tissues was examined by immunohistochemistry.RESULTS: Placental flt1 protein expression was higher in women with PIH than that in the control group(P<0ª±01) and immunohistochemistry staining showed that the flt1 was localized in the syncytiotrophoblast and endothelia cells of villous capillaried and large vessels.CONCLUSION: The increased flt1 protein may alter VEGFª²mediated function on trophoblast and endothelial cells in the placenta with PIH. ......
