     Expression of GluR1 in the hippocampus of rats

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the expression of AMPA receptor subunit GluR1 in the hippocampus of rats. METHODS: The expression and distribution of GluR1 in hippocampus of rats were examined by using SP immunohistochemical staining method. RESULTS: There was a widespread expression of GluR1 in the hippocampus of adult rats, especially in stratum pyramidal cell, stratum orient and stratum lucidum of CA3 region, and interneuron of dentate gyrus. Positive expression was mainly located in the cytomembrane and processes of the neurons in the CA1 area, and also in the cytoplasm in the CA3 area. CONCLUSION: The expression of GluR1 in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 area is different. This difference may be attributed to the different functions in different hippocampal subregions. ......
