Reconstruction interlocking nail in treating femoral shaft fracture complicated with ipsilateral femoral neck or trochanteric fractures

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To explore the clinical results of using reconstruction interlocking nail in the treatment of femoral shaft fractures accompanied with ipsilateral femoral neck or trochanteric fractures. METHODS: The authors retrospectively analyzed clinical data of twenty four cases treated with reconstruction interlocking nail. RESULTS: The follow up period ranged from 13 to 29 months with a mean of 18ª±4 months. The average time of union for the shaft fractures was within 5ª±6 months, 6ª±2 months for the neck fractures, 4ª±8 months for the trochanteric fractures. No infection, implant failure or embolism syndrome occurred. CONCLUSION: The reconstruction interlocking nail is a reliable and effective method to treat femoral shaft fracture accompanied with ipsilateral femoral neck or trochanteric fractures. ......
