Abstract

    AIM:
To study the level changes of hypoxia-inducible factor-1a (HIF-1a), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) and multidrug resistance gene (MDR1) in pancreatic carcinoma cells SW1990 exposed to hypoxia, and to explore the possible molecular mechanism.

    METHODS: CoCl2 was used to induce chemical hypoxia, and SW1990 cells were divided into normal oxygen group and hypoxia group. The expression of HIF-1a, VEGF, GLUT1 and MDR1 at the mRNA and protein levels were analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western-blot, respectively, in the above groups 24 h after treatment with hypoxia and transfected with plasmid HIF-1a/PCDNA3.
