    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the effect of HCV persistent infection on synthesis and secretion of MMP2 and MMP9 of human placental syncytiotrophoblast in vitro. METHODS: ELISA was employed to evaluate the effect of HCV persistent infection on secretion of MMP2 and MMP9 of human placental syncytiotrophoblast in vitro, and furthermore, gelatin zymography was used to validate the ELISA result. The effect of HCV persistent infection on synthesis of proMMP2 and proMMP9 mRNA was analyzed by RTPCR. RESULTS: The secretion of MMP2 and MMP9 of human placental syncytiotrophoblast in infection group decreased significantly (MMP2：t=4.186，P<0.05； MMP9：t=2.325, P<0.05); The synthesis of proMMP2 and proMMP9 mRNA of syncytiotrophoblast of infection group decreased in comparison with control group, but not significantly in statistics(proMMP2：t=1.196 ......
