     Expressions of MMP2, MMP9 and TIMP3 in human transitional cell carcinoma of bladder and their clinical significance

    ABSTRACT: Objective To investigate the expressions of MMP2, MMP9 and TIMP3 in human transitional cell carcinoma of bladder and discuss their clinical significance. Methods Using immunohistochemical stains and HMIAS2000 analysis system, the expressions of MMP2, MMP9 and TIMP3 of 35 cases of bladder carcinoma (tumor group) and 10 cases of normal bladder (control group) were analyzed. Results MMP2 and MMP9 were highly expressed in tumor samples and their expression rates increased with grades and stages. TIMP3 was also highly expressed in tumor samples and its expression rates increased with grades but not with stages. Conclusion These results suggest that MMP2, MMP9 and TIMP3 play an important role in the invasion step of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder. Detection of their expressions may become a new approach to the diagnosis of urothelial carcinomas. ......
