【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the modification by glucocorticoid on CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells in mice with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). METHODS: Glucocorticoid or placebo (control group) was injected into Balb/c mice that had been immunized with bovine myelin basic protein (MBP) extracted from the fresh spinal cord of OX. CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cell specific FOXP3 and blood IL10 were evaluated with flow cytometry and ELISA, respectively. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, less EAE symptoms were found in the glucocorticoidinjected group, and the levels of FOXP3 and blood IL10 were statistically different from those in the control group. CONCLUSION: Glucocorticoid can relieve the symptoms of EAE by increasing regulatory T cells and their activities, which offers a potential theoretic basis for its clinical application. ......
