The prognostic analysis of incidental renal cell carcinomas

    ABSTRACT: Objective To explore and analyse the clinical characteristics and survival rate of incidental renal cell carcinoma(RCC). Methods Clinical data of 346 cases were reviewed and analysed. Patiens were divided according to Robson criteria into two groups, 153 cases of incidental RCC and 193 nonª²incidental RCC. All data were processed by software SPSS 11.5. Results The Robson stage of the incidentals is significantly lower than that of the nonª²incidentals (¦Ö2=31.741, P<0.01). The 3, 5 and 10ª²year survival rate of incidentals was 84.20%, 72.86% and 67.15% respectively; that of nonª²incidentals was 67.78%, 60.54% and 47.37%; the difference was significant (¦Ö2=8.53, P<0.05). There was no difference between the incidental RCC and the nonª²incidentals of the same stages with Kaplanª²meier method. COX propotional hazard model showed incidental detecting was not the prognostic factor (¦Â=1.367, P=0.179), while clinical stage was (¦Â=2.44, P<0.01). Conclusion The incidental RCC had low stage and higher survival rate after operation, but there is no difference in survival rate between incidental RCC and nonª²incidentals of the same stages. ......
