     Role of VCAM1 in the vascular injury of pulmonary fibrosis

    【Abstract】 AIM: To explore the expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule1(VCAM1) in pulmonary tissues of rats with bleomycin(BLM)induced pulmonary fibrosis and the role of VCAM1 in vascular injury. METHODS: The immunoreaction of VCAM1 in pulmonary tissues of rats with BLMinduced pulmonary fibrosis was analyzed by immunohistochemical technique and image processing system. RESULTS: The expression of VCAM1 in the lung tissues of normal rats was weak, and distributed mainly in alveolar epithelial cells, bronchiole epithelial cells, alveolar macrophage and some pulmonary interstitium. The expression of VCAM1 in lung tissues of rats with BLM induced pulmonary fibrosis was higher than that in normal rats, with significant difference (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: VCAM1 is one of the important cell factors in BLMinduced pulmonary fibrosis and it directly participates in the pulmonary inflammation and the process of fibrosis. ......
