医学论文英文摘要中时态的用法

随着我国医学科技对外交流的日益加强，目前，国内大多数公开发行的医学刊物要求附论文的英文摘要，有的刊物还以汉英两种语言版本同时发行。这样，医学英语论文尤其是英文摘要的写作就显得非常重要。然而，由于种种原因，在我国一些正式出版的医学刊物的英文摘要中常常出现一些错误或不妥之处，其中时态用法不当最为突出。本文就医学摘要(主要是针对目前比较普及的结构式摘要)中时态的用法加以探讨，可望对读者有所启示。
医学论文结构式摘要中所采用的时态主要有一般现在时，一般过去时和现在完成的。
1 目的(Objective)部分常涉及两种时态。在叙述该文的写作目的时使用一般现在时；表示实验或研究目的使用一般过去时。
1.1 The purpose of this article is to emphasize the value of radiation therapy.(表示本文目的)
1.2 The aim of the study was to test the effect of the drugs.(表示研究的目的)
2 方法和结果(Methods and Results)部分叙述作者从事该项研究所使用的方法、步骤或过程以及取得的结果。因作者在撰写论文时，研究工作业已结束，研究过程中所做的一切都已成为过去，故一律用过去时。
2.1 The patients were divided into two groups to be given the different drugs.(表示实验方法)
2.2 Failure to respond to signs of severe fetal distress was more common in case of cerebral palsy.(表示实验结果)
现在完成时用于方法和结果部分时，用于说明论题的发展背景，表示持续到撰写论文时的某种行为或状态，或表示在另一现在时动作之前就已完成的动作。
2.3 The patients have been followed for 18 to 38 years since the beginning of their disease
2.4 Radionuclide examinations provide considerable infomation in evaluating patients who have received renal transplants.
3 结论(Conclusion)部分是作者对所得结果的评语，乃写作时作者所持观点，谓语动词一律用一般现在时。
3.1 The findings also suggest an association between suboptimal care and cerebral palsy,but this seems to have role in only a small proportion of all cases of carebral palsy.
3.2 This paper reports the characteristic of remission of type I diabetes melitus.
4 摘要中的祈使句用一般现在时。
