【Abstract】 Objective To evaluate the effect of exercise intervention on the symptomatic improve-ment and quality of life in patients with depression. Methods A total of 96 patients diagnosed with depression were enrolled and randomly divided into the study (n = 48) and control groups (n = 48). All patients in both groups received conventional ant-depressant medication and health education. Besides, patients in the study group were prescribed with a 6-week exercise intervention program. Hamilton Scale (HAMD-17), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and the Short Form-36 health survey (SF-36) were assessed at the baseline and 6 weeks. Results In the study group, 13 patients failed to complete the exercise intervention and 35 completed the exercise intervention. These 35 patients were eligible for subsequent study. In the control group, 9 patients were lost and 39 completed the treatment. These 39 cases were included for subsequent investigation. After corresponding treatment, the HAMD-17 and HAMA scores were significantly lower compared with those before treatment in two groups (both P < 0.05). The HAMD-17 and HAMA scores in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (both P < 0.05). After corresponding treatment, the scores of different dimensions of SF-36 including physical function (PF), physical role (RP), general health (GH), vitality (VT), social function (SF) and emotional role (RE) in the study group were significantly higher compared with those in the control group (all P < 0.05). Conclusion Exercise intervention can mitigate the depression and anxiety symptoms and enhance quality of life in patients with depression., 百拇医药(汪钦林?段定勇?洪松?杨燕卿?刘莹霞?李烜)
