[摘 要] 本文介绍了留美学者李永明博士对30年前(1971年7月)美国纽约时报副社长詹姆斯·赖斯顿访华期间所写的有关针灸疗法的长篇文章这一史实进行的考证核实；澄清了这位记者率先将中国针灸术介绍给美国的前因后果；并对当时的历史背景以及这一报道的历史地位进行了分析。

    [Abstract] The present paper introduces the textual res earch and verifying of the scholar Ph.D.Li Yongming who had studied in USA, for t he historical fact, i, e. the article about acupuncture and moxibustion therapy writen by vice-director of New York Times, James Reston during visting Ch ina in July 1971; clears up the cause and effect of the fact that the reporter w as the fi rst to introduce Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion to USA; and analyses histor ical background at the time and the historical position of this report.
